Create and Craft TV are delighted to welcome Tamara Melvin, former Sewing Bee finalist (2014) onto your screens. Tamara, a home sewer and blogger (The Green Thimble), prides herself on her imagination and ability to think outside of the sewing box, with over 30 years of experience she will be sharing her techniques and fresh ideas with you on Saturday.
The BBC’s Great British Sewing Bee has put sewing back in the limelight. With over 2.7 million viewers, the show has brought inspiration and confidence to more people, encouraging them to make something unique and creative. Like many, Tamara was taught to sew by her mother, she spent her youth surrounded by fabric, hand-stitching clothes for her dolls until she was able to use a sewing machine. With her sewing journey aired on national TV, the nation has got to know Tamara and her unique style of sewing, especially through the weekly challenges and tasks.
“We’re so pleased to have Tamara on our TV channel. We and our customers followed her closely on the Sewing Bee, enjoying her unique approach to sewing, which we know will come through when she presents on the show. The Great British Sewing Bee has had a huge impact on the public. We’ve been in the sewing market for over 10 years and last year we sold just over 15,000 sewing machines, up 14 per cent on the previous year. Our LIVE sewing shows teach our viewers the skills they need to make beautiful and unique sewing projects from dress making through to quilting. And of course, all the tools you need are readily available to buy through our channel or our website – www.createandcraft.tv.” – Michael O’Connor Head of Marketing Communications.
Tamara will be guesting on Saturday’s one hour sewing special; Easy Espadrilles by Prym. Bringing her quirky style, Tamara hopes to inspire crafters to create unique espadrilles for themselves and others. Create a fashion statement and sew together a unique shoe for summer. Put your best foot forward with Prym and get everything you need to get started.
The show will broadcast LIVE from 2pm on Saturday 25th July. As well as Tamara guesting on the show, viewers will be able to purchase everything they need to make their espadrilles, including soles, fabrics, needles and yarn.
