30 seconds in the hot seat with Emma Chambers, Creative Developer for Create and Craft
- How did you decide to join the Create and Craft team and how long you have been with the business now?
I have been with the company since 2006 after returning from China where I taught English. I first worked on Ideal World and then had the opportunity to join the Create and Craft team and I have been with Craft ever since, enjoying every minute.
I have been at the company for 12 years, I am a keen crafter and relished the opportunity to help develop craft categories tailor making the demos and videos that would resonate with crafters.
- What does the Creative Developer do?
We work on shows/ products in advance working with the commercial team and suppliers so we can source finished samples, request VT’s and graphics to bring all the features to life, liaise with guests, all to support the live teams plus web and social too.
- What do you enjoy the most about your role?
Every day is different which I love and I enjoy working across all the different departments and seeing how a product can be brought to life.
- Have you ever been on Create and Craft TV?
I have been in a couple of the live links during Birthday event in the past and my hands feature in some of the features and finished sample VT’s that have been and will be on air soon.
- Are you a Crafter? If so, what do you do?
I studied art, design, and photography at college many years ago and used to do lots of painting (even a couple of commissions for friends and family) I am planning to get back into this as I do miss painting. I have also started knitting again, my mum taught me when I was a lot younger and have attempted to knit scarves for my two children. I would like to master crochet and would also love to attempt Brush lettering too, the list keeps growing!
My children enjoy crafting so we occasionally start projects at home, it’s great to see how much fun they both have and the end results are always completely different.
- If you won a lottery how would you spend your winnings?
I am always being laughed at about this one, the first thing I would do is have new windows, doors and a new boiler,(boring to some people) and then it would have to be first class tickets to New Zealand to visit my husband’s relatives, touring the North and South Island along the way of course!
If it was a large sum of money I would put some money in savings accounts so my children could go to college or University without having to worry about student loans and then share some between family and friends. The list is endless really!
