Create and Craft TV grew sales by 11% during 2015, against a challenging retail climate in the UK. Create and Craft TV is part of Ideal Shopping Direct, the most prolific broadcaster of live shopping television in the UK. It is one of the UK’s leading multi-channel home shopping retailers, selling via TV channels and the internet. It is the number one direct retailer in craft.
During 2015 Create and Craft Sales grew by 11% to more than £90million, and new customers grew by +19%. This performance led to the creation of 50 new jobs in Peterborough, taking the total number employed to 398. The UK craft market is valued at £3.5bn and is growing. The profile of crafting is high with a renewed interest thanks to BBC television shows like The Great British Bake Off and The Great Sewing Bee.
Mike Hancox CEO said, “We are well positioned in a growing market and have made the most of the opportunity, which is reflected in our solid performance and growth. A huge part of this is down to the talent and hard work of the team here in Peterborough. They delivered outstanding growth, improved customer satisfaction and helped to attract thousands of new customers. Our customers are clearly enjoying watching, shopping and crafting with us which is in turn good for our suppliers, many of whom are small and medium sized UK based companies.”
In September 2015, the business was bought by US private equity firm Blackstone. The business was delisted from London’s junior AIM market in 2011.
