Create and Craft, the UK’s leading multi-channel craft home shopping retailer, are excited to be working with guest demonstrator and sewing guru Jennie Rayment to bring one of 2018’s biggest sewing trends to the channel this June. Sashiko, the ancient Japanese sewing technique has been given a 21st century revamp; Jenny will be demoing the technique live on the channel on Monday 4th June.
Sashiko originates from Northern Japan and translates to ‘little stabs’. A sashiko revival in the 1970’s and now is once again back, evolving into the fashion and crafting worlds. Jennie will be demonstrating in a Create and Craft classroom hour, as she explores the delights of this ancient technique, experimenting with colours, textures and patterns, using designs with the easy to sew Sashiko templates – all you need to do is follow the lines.
Lindsay-Jane Vines, Create and Craft Managing Director, commented; “Create and Craft are proud to bring a whole range of educational content both on air and online for our crafters, supporting them as they learn wonderful new crafting skills such as Sashiko. Working with Jennie to bring this trend-setting sewing technique to the channel, we are so pleased to be bringing this and many other new crafting tutorials and products to our customers over the coming months.”
