Tell us about a typical day in your role.
I work with a variety of teams to collate all of the content so depending on what stage we are of the magazine will depend on who I’m working with on any given day. Once it’s all in, I then edit the copy and work with design to create the finished piece and organise to get it sent to all of our lovely members. It sounds so simple when you put it like that but a lot of work goes into each publication! I also look after the member’s area of the website – our members are at the heart of everything we do as a business so it’s great to be so involved with the club.
Have you always wanted to be a magazine editor?
I did English at university and have always loved writing so it fell quite naturally. I’ve worked on a range of magazines from football clubs to childcare, both of which I know nothing about so I’m a lot more at home with Craft Club magazine
What crafting do you do and what craft would you love to get into?
I dabble in a range of crafts; I like to bake on the odd occasion and I’ve recently got into brush lettering – it’s so addictive! My mum has also just taught me how to knit so I’m ready to whip up some scarfs for the colder months ahead
What makes you want to come to work each day?
I love knowing how much our channel means to people, it can often be their lifeline. I get a lot of stories sent in from members telling me how thankful they are for all that we do so that keeps me going on a cold and wet Monday morning
We know you have a beautiful pooch called Hugo, has he ever been featured in the club mag or would he be camera shy?
Of course he has, any excuse to show him off I will! He was in the winter 2016 issue along with his cousin, Angus, modelling some handmade coats and bespoke beds (page 44 if you’ve still got your copy!).
